The calyx becomes split along these weak points by the growth of the fruit. In Gilia FRUIT AND SEED 33 the calyx enlarges in fruit before it eventually ruptures. In Linanthus, by contrast, phylogenetic unity has been attained by bringing together several originally separate genera, such as Linanthus sensu stricto, Leptosiphon, F enzlia, and Dactylophyllum.
